Biosafety training
is available though ORCBS and includes information about
these techniques and other aspects of autoclave safety and use.
An operator can also ensure the autoclave is effectively sterilizing
biohazardous waste by periodically checking if the temperature
and pressure necessary for the decontamination of biohazardous
wastes is reached. These parameters are determined by yearly
testing and listed on posted autoclave
parameter signs.
DO NOT
override autoclave's built-in safety control features under
any circumstance; if you suspect there is a problem with your
autoclaves performance, contact your autoclave repair
representative for assistance.
