MISSION STATEMENT

Michigan State University's Environmental Compliance Office mission is to focus on improvements in environmental quality and compliance and to preserve Michigan's natural resources.

Sustaining environmental compliance will be accomplished by leveraging the resources available on campus and partnering with government and community agencies. Fostering good environmental stewardship will benefit the community, faculty, staff, students and visitors.

The mission goals of the Environmental Compliance Office at Michigan State University are to:

1. Promote the University environmental information system.
2. Communicate and improve compliance with regulations, which apply to the University.
3. Establish an Environmental Management System to promote and foster environmental stewardship, reduce liability and track environmental improvements.
4. Focus on the University efforts towards waste minimization, and source reduction of natural resources.
5. Work with regulatory agencies to foster good public relations.
