MSU WHHP: Element 1 - Roles and Responsibilities

This element is intended to identify individuals and groups responsible for development and implementation of the WHPP. All of the following individuals or groups are aware of their roles and responsibilities within the MSU WHPP. Several individuals have been a part of the Wellhead Protection Team and have participated in the development of the WHPP.

Local Wellhead Protection Team

The Team has had responsibility for preparing the WHPP. The Team has the continued responsibility for ensuring that the WHPP is implemented and updated. Team members have the responsibility to promote the WHPP through their actions.

A local wellhead team was assembled by MSU in October 1998. The purpose of the MSU Wellhead Protection Team is to develop, implement, and maintain the Wellhead Protection Program. The Team consists of seven members representing the MSU Physical Plant; the ORCBS; Land Management Office; College of Agriculture and Natural Resources; Institute of Water Research; Center for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS); MSU farms; Campus Park and Planning; and Associated Students of MSU. It has been the Team's responsibility to oversee the development of all WHPP elements.

The Team members are:

  • Mr. Doug MacDonald, P.E., Water Works Manager, MSU Physical Plant Power and Water Department
  • Mr. Ben Darling, Assistant Director, MSU Land Management Office
  • Mr. Bob Ceru, Assistant Director, MSU ORCBS
  • Mr. Tom Grover, Environmental Compliance Officer, MSU ORCBS
  • Ms. Ruth Kline-Robach, Outreach Specialist, MSU Institute of Water Research
  • Dr. David Lusch, Senior Research Specialist, MSU Institute of Water Research and Center for Remote Sensing and GIS
  • Mr. Steve Hadersbeck, Landscape Architect, Campus Park and Planning
