The Radiation Safety Committee

The Michigan State University Radiation Safety Committee is comprised of faculty, administrators and staff who have been delegated responsibility for radiological health, safety and compliance at the University. Approval for use of radioactive materials, reviewing policy and campus radiation safety, advising the university administration in radiation safety issues and programs, and auditing the operations and activities of the ORCBS Health Physics staff are some of the functions performed by the RSC.

Radiation Safety Committee members are appointed by the University administration, according to their experience and skills, which enable them to effectively perform their duties. Radiation Safety Committee members' qualifications are reviewed by the NRC, then members are named in our broad license as being responsible for oversight and review of campus radiation safety. The Radiation Safety Committee members have expertise in the wide range of uses of radioactive materials at Michigan State University. Current members of this committee are listed in the campus telephone directory, which is updated each year.
